Is there a Superhero In You?
The 24/7 Superhero Obstacle Course Challenge Press Release
Newswire) May 8, 2010 – ON THE EDGE EVENTS officially announced this week preparations for a major running event to be held in Johnson City, near Austin, TX, on Saturday October 1, 2010 and is expected to attract runners from all over Texas.
The 24/7 Superhero Obstacle Course is an off-road obstacle course based run offering the Full- 24 obstacles over a 7 mile course for the seasoned runner, and the Half “costume themed” fun run including 12 obstacles over 3.5 miles. Runners are encouraged to dress as their favorite superhero for the fun run and costume contests.
Once the Superheroes have completed their challenge and saved the day, a superhero party full of festivities awaits both the Superheroes and all spectators. There will be food, beer (one free beer per registrant 21 and over), music, costume contest, and much more. All are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to the event area to listen to music and cheer the runners as they cross the finish line.
The brainchild of Rafael “Trini” Trinidad of San Antonio, this event was inspired by a tremendous interest in off-road running and fighting obesity by participating in outdoor exercise. The superhero theme will also serve to honor special modern day “superheroes” for their service to their community including military, police, and fire.
A donation from the proceeds of The 24/7 Superhero Obstacle Course Challenge will benefit the real life superheroes. A Superhero is a Superhero 24 hours a day 7 days a week, which is the reason a portion of the proceeds also is given to the local law enforcement entity in which our races are held. The proceeds will support a program that honors our fallen heroes who have given the ultimate sacrifice protecting the citizens of this great country, the United States of America.
Look forward to seeing the superhero in you October 1, 2011.
